JOIN THE NORTH MYRTLE BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR A MAY 6 WILDFIRE COMMUNITY PREPAREDNESS DAY OPEN HOUSE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY

On Saturday, May 6, the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department will hold an open house to coincide with National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, which provides adults and kids with the opportunity to learn to be Fire Wise.

The family-friendly event will be held 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station #1, located on Second Avenue South across from city hall.

There will be FREE food and drinks, activities for the kids, displays, information and handouts.

The main focus for this year’s open house is installing safe landscaping around one’s home. Different types of plants and trees that resist burning will be on display, as will plants that burn easily and should be placed away from the home. At the end of the day the plants on display will be given away in a free raffle.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission will be on hand with one of its tractor plows, and the Fire Department’s Safety House will be on site for tours and presentations throughout the day. Kids of all ages can have their photos taken inside the new ladder truck.
Come out and enjoy the food, the activities, and learn to be Fire Wise!
