Our beautiful city of North Myrtle Beach not only welcomes visitors from all over the country and even abroad, but provides a home for many residents. Here in the Public Safety Department we are committed to making North Myrtle Beach a safe place to visit and live.
The Public Safety Department was formed in 1986, when police and fire services were combined to form an administrative department. We provide police and fire rescue services and have our own communications facility, detentions facility, and training grounds. The Public Safety Department employs a highly educated and trained staff that makes every effort to keep North Myrtle Beach a safe place all year round.
Our Public Safety Officers (PSOs) and Firefighter/EMTs are cross trained and have dual certifications. PSOs hold Class 1 Law Enforcement and NFPA Firefighter 1 certifications. Firefighters/EMTs hold Class 3 Law Enforcement certifications. Our personnel attend classes from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and the South Carolina Fire Academy. Furthermore, the department encourages its personnel to further their education and obtain advanced certifications. View our current Organizational Chart.
Whether you are here on vacation or live here year round, The Public Safety Department is here to help in anything you need!
