INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES WHO WISH TO RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL IN THE NOVEMBER 7, 2023, MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The North Myrtle Beach General Municipal Election of November 7, 2023, is for three (3) offices: One Council Member of the Crescent Beach Ward, One Council Member of the Cherry Grove Ward, and One At-large Member. Terms are for four years.
All Council members are elected at-large. All registered voters of the city may cast one vote for each of these offices.
Elections are non-partisan (no party affiliations), and all elections are according to the runoff election method. If a candidate does not receive a majority of votes cast for that office, a second election (runoff) must be held two weeks later between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes.
Qualifications: All candidates for office must be qualified electors (residents, registered voters, and 18 years of age or older). However, candidates for the Council member from the Crescent Beach Ward and the Cherry Grove Ward must be residents of the ward where they are seeking office.
Filing period: From 12:00 p.m. August 25, 2023, until 12:00 p.m. on September 8, 2023.
Instructions: The filing fee for the office of Council is $75.00. Filing fees are payable to the City of North Myrtle Beach at the time of filing.
The following forms must be completed and filed in the office of the City Clerk by 12:00 p.m. on September 8, 2023.

The Campaign Disclosure and Statement of Economic Interest forms must be filed with the State Ethics Commission by the filing deadlines as stated online.
