The Department of Public Safety Fire Rescue Division operates out of five stations and with 3 Battalion Chief’s with a staff for each station.

Battalion Chief Todd Davis (A Shift)

Battalion Chief Todd Davis graduated from EMT school in GA in 1994. He then moved to Myrtle Beach in hopes to begin his career as a firefighter. In 1997, he was hired by the City of North Myrtle Beach in as a Firefighter and then in 2002, he was promoted to fire Lieutenant. In 2002, BC Todd Davis joined the SCTF1 and became certified as a canine search specialist. In 2005, he was deployed to assist with search and rescue of the hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans. In 2009, he was promoted to fire Captain and in 2011 he was promoted as Battalion Chief. BC Todd Davis is currently in charge of special operational teams such as the Technical Rescue Team as well as Special Events Operations that require the fire department’s assistance. He is currently attending Columbia Southern University where he will graduate with a degree in Fire Science. BC Todd Davis enjoys spending time with his 3 children as well as hunting, fishing, and working with alligators.

Battalion Chief Mike Davis (B Shift)

Battalion Chief Mike Davis started his fire career in 1988 with the City Of Grass Valley in California. During his career in California he worked and trained with Cal Fire and the US forest Service in wild land firefighting. BC Davis moved to SC in 1995 and worked for the Myrtle Beach International Airport, until July 1996 when he joined the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety. BC Davis became Lieutenant in 2000, and BC in 2005. BC Davis heads up our Wild land team and has been deployed to wildfires in Texas, California, and Oregon through the SC Forestry Commission. BC Davis is a member of the Pee Dee Type 3 All Hazards Incident Management Team. He has an associate’s degree from Pike’s Peak Community College in Colorado Springs in Fire Technology and a Bachelors Degree from Ashworth University in Public Administration. He is currently working on a Masters in Fire Science.

Battalion Chief Dustin Overholser (C Shift)

Battalion Chief Dustin Overholser is originally from Columbus, Ohio and moved to the area in 2003 after completing the Ohio Fire Academy through Hocking College.  He has been with the city since 2005. He has a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in public health.   BC Overholser has been an EMT since 2002, was promoted to Lt. in 2008 and promoted to Battalion Chief in 2013.  BC Overholser manages fleet maintenance and station repairs for the fire rescue division and is a member of the uniform committee.  In 2015, he attended the TEEX Enhanced All-Hazards Incident Management in College Station, Texas furthering his abilities to manage expanding and/or complex incidents.  BC Overholser enjoys teaching and now that he has finished college, plans to increase his ability to teach his department in professional development and leadership.  BC Overholser is a diehard Buckeye and enjoys watching games with his dad and brother whenever they can get together at the same time.
