RESULTS - MARCH 1 CITY COUNCIL MEETING
The North Myrtle Beach City Council met on March 1, at City Hall for a 6:00 pm executive session and a 7:00 pm meeting.
During the executive session, City Council discussed a potential property acquisition. Council took no action.
During the meeting, Mayor Marilyn Hatley presented a Proclamation to Polly Lowman, publisher of the North Myrtle Beach Times, in honor of the newspaper’s 50th Anniversary. Polly Lowman launched her weekly newspaper th
e week of February 22, 1971, three years after four towns incorporated to form the City of North Myrtle Beach. Despite the emergence of new information technologies, such as the internet, the North Myrtle Beach Times continues to thrive in print and plays an important role in providing news and information to our community.
Polly Lowman was accompanied by her son, Michael Lowman, who runs the weekly Loris Times newspaper, which she also publishes.
Mayor Marilyn Hatley presented a Proclamation naming March 1 as “COVID-19 Victim & Survivors Memorial Day” in North Myrtle Beach. More than 500 people in Horry County have died from the virus, some North Myrtle Beach residents, and many more have contracted the virus. The Proclamation honors those who lost their lives, those who continue to suffer from the effects of the virus, and all of the essential workers who rose to assist the community during the continuing pandemic.
City Council passed the second reading of an ordinance regarding a petition for annexation and zoning designation for 0.28 acres on 1st Avenue South.
City Council passed the second reading of an ordinance regarding a petition for annexation and zoning designation for 0.36 acres on Cenith Drive.
City Council passed the second reading of an ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances of the City of North Myrtle Beach for Gender Inclusive Language
City Council adopted a Resolution to approve the Third Amendment to the Commercial Lease Agreement between the City and Midcon Cable.
City Council passed the first reading of an ordinance regarding a Parasail and Banana Boat Franchise Agreement for Cherry Grove in the vicinity of Sea Mountain Highway
City Council passed first reading of an ordinance regarding a Parasail and Banana Boat Franchise Agreement for Crescent Beach in the vicinity of 17th Avenue South
City Council passed the first reading of an ordinance regarding a petition for annexation and zoning designation for 2.47 acres on Riverside Drive
City Council held a second Public Hearing regarding an amendment to the Second Separate and Independent Amendment to the Master Development Agreement between the City and NGD regarding the Grande Dunes North Section of the Parkway Planned Development District.
City Council passed the first reading of an ordinance to amend the Second Separate and Independent Amendment to the Master Development Agreement between the City and NGD regarding the Grande Dunes North Section of the Parkway Planned Development District (PDD)
City Council passed the first reading of an ordinance to amend the Parkway Group Planned Development District (PDD) and Waterway Hills Village at Grande Dunes
City Council passed the first reading of an ordinance to amend Article V (NOISE), Section 12-72 (PROHIBITION) of the North Myrtle Beach Code of Ordinances
