AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION COURSE OR SHALLOW WATER LIFEGUARDING COURSE OFFERED AT NMB AQUATIC & FITNESS CENTER APRIL 5-9
The North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center (AFC) offers an April 5-9 American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course or Shallow Water Lifeguarding Course for people ages 15 and older.
Lifeguard Certification Course Prerequisites: A mandatory pre-course swim test includes a 300-yard continuous swim. It also includes a timed swim in which participants swim 20 yards, surface dive to 9 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, surface, kick 20 yards on their back to the starting point while holding the retrieved object with two hands, and exit the pool. Participants must also be able to tread water for two minutes using their legs only.
Shallow Water Lifeguarding Course Prerequisites: A mandatory pre-course swim test includes a 300-yard continuous swim. It also includes a timed swim in which participants swim 20 yards, surface dive to 4-5 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, surface, then swim/walk back to the starting point while holding the retrieved object with two hands, and exit the pool. Participants must also be able to tread water for two minutes using their legs only.
CPR masks are distributed to those who pass the pre-course swim test.
The registration deadline is April 3.
