NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Motorcycle officers from across South Carolina will be on the Grand Strand for the 15th Annual Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Challenge. The event is hosted by the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, the Myrtle Beach Police Department, and the Horry County Police Department.
The police motorcycle rodeo is a training opportunity for officers and EMS personnel to increase their skills on two wheels and showcase their talent, while at the same time helping support Camp Happy Days. Camp Happy Days is a charity that helps provide support services for children with cancer. The Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Challenge has raised more than $87,000 over the last 15 years through donations from area businesses.
The event is open to families and the public at no charge.
Tommy Dennis, police chief for the City of North Myrtle Beach says, “This is a fun event for the whole family. Everyone has a great time watching these officers show just how qualified they are. You definitely don’t want to miss the Last Man Standing event!”
What is a police motorcycle rodeo? It is series of performance-based tests designed to display what riders have learned as motorcycle officers while elevating their knowledge. Motorcycle officers from North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Canada will also participate in the rodeo.
