NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The North Myrtle Beach City Council met in a regularly scheduled meeting on August 15.
Several items were on the agenda which can be read here.
Prior to the scheduled meeting City Council Members held an executive session to discuss several items. No votes were taken.
- A legal briefing regarding Cherry Grove Beach Gear, LLC, et al vs. City of North Myrtle Beach, Case Number 4:22-cv-02198-RBH
- A legal briefing regarding contract agreements with Robber’s Roost Villas and Manning Communities
- A legal briefing regarding the proposed Development Agreements with the Village at Waterway Hills, Phases 2 and 3 of Waterside, and the RL Bell Tract
Council members also approved minutes from public meetings on July 18, 2022, July 27, 2022, and August 1, 2022.
The items below were approved:
- RESOLUTION: To approve the Mutual Aid Agreement between the City of North Myrtle Beach and Horry Georgetown Fire Chiefs’ Association. (This resolution concerns a Mutual Aid Agreement between the City of North Myrtle Beach and the Horry Georgetown Fire Chief's Association for fire suppression, fire prevention, EMS, technical rescue, hazmat, and any other planned or unplanned situations).
- MOTION TO APPOINT: One reappointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals. (Mr. Wyman Wise was reappointed to another four-year term).
- MOTION TO APPROVE: SOS Fun Sunday. (Council approved the SOS Foundation request for Fun Sunday on September 18, 2022).
- MOTION TO APPROVE: 9-11 Memorial. (Council approved the NMB Lions Club request for a memorial service on September 11, 2022).
- MOTION TO APPROVE: Winter Run. (Council members approved a request from Coastal Race Productions, LLC for the Winter Run to be held on January 21, 2023).
- MOTION TO APPROVE: The Annual North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade. (Council members approved a request from Destination NMB and the City of NMB for the Annual North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade to be held on December 3, 2022).
Removed from the consent agenda for a potential workshop in September:
- ORDINANCE/SECOND READING: Amendments to Chapter 23, Zoning, of the Code of Ordinances of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina regarding minimum building size.
Other proposed ordinances on the agenda for second reading were approved unanimously.
- ORDINANCE/SECOND READING: Amendment to the Parkway Group Planned Development District (PDD) regarding the Village at Waterway Hills. Read the request and background information here.
