NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- An amazing cluster of Live Oaks is recognized by the NMB Tree Board as the "Tree of the Month" for September 2022.
The Live Oaks are located at the residence of Mr. Orren Bannen on Strand Avenue in North Myrtle Beach.
Bannen bought the home in 1986, and the trees have matured and grown along with him. Bannon is now 93 years young. He splits his time between his home in North Myrtle Beach and a home in Statesboro, Georgia.
Mr. Bannen says he's allowed the Live Oaks to grow naturally and includes several other native plants on his property including Wax Myrtles and Red Cedars.

The Tree of the Month program began in 2010 to recognize trees within the city that have been preserved over the years. It also provides a platform to remind people of the benefits and importance that trees offer in our everyday lives.
