NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department and the North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club held an awards ceremony for members of the NMB Police Department and NMB Fire Rescue Department.
Fire Chief Garry Spain, and Police Chief Tommy Dennis presented the awards during the Club’s weekly meeting. Three members of the Public Safety Department were recognized for their hard work.
Chief Spain presented an award to Engineer Derek DuPonte. Chief Spain explained to the NMB Rotary Club Members and its guests how important a role Derek plays within the Fire Department. Derek has quickly climbed through the ranks volunteering for any and all tasks.
Chief Dennis presented an award to Police Officer Chris Iannone. Chief Dennis spoke about how Chris came to the NMB Police Department with a wealth of knowledge about police work and quickly took several officers under his wing. Chris continues to mentor and teach other officers the ropes.
Chief Spain and Chief Dennis also honored their Executive Assistant, Kelly Carpenter. Kelly started with the Records Department, but continued to seek more responsibility, eventually becoming the Executive Assistant for the Public Safety Department.
Executive Assistant Kelly Carpenter, Engineer Derek DuPonte, and Police Officer Chris Iannone were presented with $500 checks from AJ Gohil, President of the North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club.
The plaques from the NMB Rotary Club honored each person for their service.
Gohil said the Club plans to hand out the award to North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department Members each year.
